Gio’s Pizza & Spaghetti House: As Good, and as Metry at it Gets
You know those places that just feel like home the moment you walk in? That’s Gio’s Pizza & Spaghetti House for you. Tucked away at 4941 W Napoleon Ave in Metairie, this family-run gem has been serving up authentic New Orleans’ style Italian comfort food since 1984.
Walk through the door, and you’re transported to another era. The red and white checkered tablecloths, wood-paneled walls adorned with family photos and kitschy Italian artwork — it’s like stepping into your Nonna’s den.
Gio’s has been a cornerstone of the Metairie community for four decades now, and it’s easy to see why.
Where else can you find a spot that works just as well for a cozy date night as it does for your kid’s little league team celebration? The prices won’t make your wallet cry, and the portions? Let’s just say nobody’s leaving hungry.
In a city that’s constantly changing, it’s comforting to know that some places stay exactly as they should be. Gio’s isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel — they’re just making damn good pizza and treating everyone like family. And sometimes, that’s all you really need.
So whether you’re a longtime local or just passing through, do yourself a favor and stop by Gio’s. Order a pizza, settle into one of those cozy tables, and become part of a forty-year tradition of good food and great memories.
Note: Gio’s keeps short hours. They’re closed Sunday and Monday, then open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am – 2pm for lunch, and again from 4pm – 7:30pm for dinner (dine in, and take out). On Wednesday, it’s just lunch from 11am – 2pm. On Fridays it’s 11-2, then 4-8pm, and on Saturdays, it’s 4-8 pm only.

Nola Places Update: Gio’s Gets National Recognition … Gio’s just got some much deserved Big Time attention (2/4/25). Dave Portnoy, the pizza critic behind One Bite Reviews, recently stopped by and gave Gio’s a solid 7.6 rating. Now, for those who don’t follow Portnoy’s reviews, that’s an impressive score. As he put it in his review, “This might be as good as we will get in Louisiana” – and that’s on a New York/New Jersey scale, folks.
The locals have known this for years, though. For us, at Nola Places, we just know: the owners are great people, and they’re always friendly. Gio’s has a warm and family-friendly atmosphere with consistently delicious food, and they just keep things good and simple.
